Hey! I publish a bellydance magazine and am looking for people who can write about makeup. I'm looking for:
1. New makeup on the market
2. Reviews
3. Makeup application instruction
Of course I'll need images as well. So if it's a review of specific products, or new makeup on the market, then I can purchase them and do a shoot w/my photographer. If it's makeup application you're writing about, I'll either need good illustrations or photos of the process. One option I saw (and liked) was taking a photo of the final look and providing illustrations (and text) on how it was achieved.
To give you an idea of where we're at right now, we had a writer come up with a piece on the historical context of eyeliner. Then she wrote a sidebar about taking care of your eyes (throwing away old product, watching out for khol mixtures from overseas, etc.). Then we had a selection of about twelve waterproof eyeliners, from companies from Smashbox to Rimmel, that bellydancers recommend, where to find them, price, plusses and minuses of each. Then had a photo session for all those products.
Our readers range from 20 - 50 years old, so the audience varies widely. Most of our readers are over 30. So makeup that doesn't emphsize wrinkles is good, but it must be resiliant because dancers sweat. A few other considerations include audiences that are close (so no crazy dramatic 'stage' makeup), audiences that are far (staged performances), and the general need to educate about makeup for nightwear (rather than daywear) without adding years onto her face. Makeup that settles into lines is always a problem.
We're on a budget, but contact me with your rates and background. Right now I'm looking at an April 5th deadline.
I may have left something out (because I'm a bit tired at the moment) so don't hesitate to contact me.
